Igrane, Croatia
Igrane is a small harbor town on the Makarska Riviera. It is located on a small peninsula, with a large sand beach (1.5 km) on the south-eastern coast. Igrane offers the atmosphere of a typical Dalmatian tourist resort for peaceful vacation. Igrane is located 15 kilometers south of Makarska.Mild Mediterranean climate as well as abundant vegetation, and several long beaches representing important conditions for tourism in ecological environment. Beautiful nature, clean air, and the sea together with many sunny days make possible for guests to spend their hollidays by relaxing and resting.
At the highest point of the village is the "Zalina Kula" tower - named after Ivan Anticic, and built during the 17th century as a protection against Turks. The Pre-Romanesque church of St. Michael (Sveti Mihovil) dominates the village. Tourism and agriculture are the main sources of income for the inhabitants.
Near the town, by the sea is a prehistoric site Gradina. Numerous sarcophagus lids are a testimony of roman presence. On the graveyard is a church of St. Nikola from 1925.
In Igrane you can find few restaurants which offer mostly Dalmatian cuisine with lots of fish and vegetables. There are also cafe bars where you can have espressos, cold drinks, and ice-cream.
